Here are some practical ways you can help reduce or eradicate a bed bug infestation.
Once you've confirmed that you have bed bugs, the first step in getting rid of them is to remove as many as you can, before any treatment is performed. The easiest way to do this is with your vacuum. Run the vacuum over all possible hiding places.
Beds - especially the seams and tucks. Examine the box spring very carefully
All of the furniture
Electronics (like TVs)
Cords plugged into the outlets and behind the outlet and scoket covers.
Seal up the vacuumed contents into a plastic bag and get it out of the house. Then put moth balls in the vacuum canister.
Take all of your affected linens and clothing wash them on the highest possible setting. And do the same in the dryer. If an item can’t be washed, put it in the dryer for 30 minutes at the highest heat setting.
Anything that can’t be treated in the washer and dryer, place in a plastic bag. If you can’t clean furniture, throw it away. Tear it up first and spray paint the words “bedbugs” on it so no one else tries to take it home.
